SINCON Reloaded 2023
VRN Comics was proud to be invited down to SINCON Reloaded 2023, Singapore’s premier techno-centric cybersecurity conference!
A niche conference, it was the first time the team had participated at such an event in our short history, and understandably, we were nervous. Walking into VOCO Orchard where the event was held, we were pleasantly surprised to see many cybersecurity enthusiasts participating as well. Greeted by friendly smiles and hospitable staff, we became optimistic that all would turn out well in the end.
Keynote Speech
To start off the day, all convention attendees were invited to give a listen to the speech made by the keynote speaker and our gracious host, Emil. Taking the stage with a commanding presence, all eyes were fixed on him as he detailed the events for the day, from hacking workshops to networking sessions, much to the crowd’s excitement. And wouldn’t you know it, he helped us a great deal by featuring our giveaway as part of his speech. Undoubtedly, this stirred a reaction within the audience as they were pleasantly taken by surprise that such an opportunity was just waiting in store for them.
Our Booth
After the Keynote session came to an end, it was then time for the team to set up our booth. However, a few questions came to mind. Do we set up banners like we did Comic-Con? What about decorations to spice up our look? In the end, we decided make things simple as could be, arranging our freebies in a neat and tidy manner without going over the top with the aesthetics. This approach definitely worked well in the end, as we put on smiles to warmly greet the many faces that came across our booth. However, we were taken by surprise at the reception we received. Our stickers were gone in a couple of minutes, and our first box of comics gone just under two hours! Suffice to say that we were rewarded with much fanfare, just take a look at some of the smiling faces above!
The Making of Hackers: Superheroes of the Digital Age
Finally, the moment the team was waiting for arrived. To close off Day 1 of the SINCON Reloaded, Vivek, in a special showcase, gave a full length presentation of how our inaugural comic, Hackers: Superheroes of the Digital Age came to be. Detailing the story from start to finish, our founder skipped no hurdles, including his conceptualisation of the story all the way to our successful debut at Comic Con Singapore 2022 in his speech. Vivek, in a special tribute to the team, even acknowledged that no doubt arduous, the team, though newly formed, brimmed with vibrancy and fresh ideas which was key in enabling us to remain united throughout the journey thus far. For sure, the audience remained captivated throughout the entirety of the speech, listening on intently to the many stories our founder had to tell. After the session, some lucky folks managed to get a few autographs and pictures with the man himself!

And just like that, after a day full of smiles and laughter, our time at SINCON Reloaded came to a close. With many happy memories made (on view here), the team can fondly look back upon yet another obstacle overcome. It is experiences such as these that give us the confidence we’ll be able to grow VRN Comics to even further heights, accomplishing whatever we set our mind to!
